Thank A Volunteer Day Sundowner

A huge round of applause to Carmel and her team of employees and volunteers at the Yarloop Steam Workshops for hosting such an amazing event. Of course, the staff at the Yarloop CRC had no doubts it would be a success because Carmel never fails to deliver.

We were lucky and honoured to have Amanda Lovitt - a Harvey Shire councilor - attend this year and present our generous volunteers with certificates of appreciation for their hard work in the community. Amanda gave a humorous and inspiring speech, focusing on the importance and benefits of voluntary work and how far voluntary work has gone back in her ancestry line - all the way back to The Holocaust!

Yarloop had 135 volunteers this year. Volunteers who generously gave their time and support to several agencies around the local area in the name of community. It's wonderful to be surrounded by so many community-minded people who are always willing to give a helping hand. Agencies this year included the Yarloop Workshops, Yarloop Community Resource Centre, Tidy Towns and the Yarloop Volunteer Bushfire Brigade - amongst many others.

The night went smoothly, with only a few minor hiccups - such as misplacing a certificate for one of our (Yarloop CRC's) most important volunteers, Elaine Parsons who is jokingly known as the Op Shop's CEO.

Once all the volunteers had been recognised and presented with their certificates, it was time to mingle and enjoy the Yarloop Workshops meals.

This night would not have been possible, if not for the generous funding from the WA Department of Local Government and Communities and the tremendous help from Carmel Hill and her team at the Yarloop Workshops. We look forward to next year!
