Yarloop Bushfire Awareness Day

What a great turn out for the Yarloop Volunteer Bushfire Brigade's Community Awareness Day which was held on Saturday, 29th of November. With roughly 70 people turning up for some family fun and 11 volunteers, the event went along smoothly and was a great success!

There was much to see and do, with face painting, bouncy castles, a sausage sizzle and live entertainment provided by Gilly Higginson, just to name a few. The trucks were brought out for the community to have a look and some even had the chance to use the fire hose! What a great experience that must have been!

The most important part of the day was the presentation on how to "Prepare, Act and Survive". Brochures, videos and Bushfire Brigade volunteers were available to answer any questions you may have had about their role as a volunteer, your role in safeguarding your house/property and the fire season. A map of the town was set up so families could place dots where they live; this gave the Yarloop Volunteer Bushfire Brigade an insight on areas to focus on during the fire season. What a great idea!

A huge thank you to the Yarloop Volunteer Bushfire Brigade for holding such a fun, family friendly event for the community. We look forward to future events! Thank you also to all the Yarloop residents who took the time to come down, get some much needed information and support the local agency.
